This fall (2026), Briggs chose to volunteer as a youth soccer coach, working with a group of young players just starting to learn the game. He brought patience and his own competitive spirit to every session, helping the kids build skills and confidence on the field—a small commitment of his time that made a real difference for them.
As a sixth-form student leader at Eaglebrook, Briggs serves on the Athletics Committee, helping build school spirit and support across every team on campus. One of his favorite parts of the role is suiting up as Eddie the Eagle to rally the crowd—here he is under the lights on a Friday night, cheering on the football team and helping create the kind of supportive, high-energy culture that makes Eaglebrook athletics special.
Briggs has a real passion for drone photography and videography, and as a sixth-form student he decided to do something about it. He took the initiative to approach Eaglebrook School and recruited a faculty advisor to help him start the school's drone club—a new student-led group responsible for filming school events and producing content for the Eaglebrook community. It's a great example of Briggs turning a personal interest into something that benefits the whole school.
For Briggs, giving back is more than just an obligation—it's a reflection of his values. During spring break 2026, Briggs had the opportunity to exemplify what it truly means to have a generous heart. One of his classmates from Liberia faced the prospect of spending the three-week spring break period alone on campus, far from home and everything familiar. Without hesitation, Briggs invited him to come home with him and share the break with his family—a decision that speaks volumes about his character and compassion.
Briggs understood intimately what his friend was experiencing. He himself had been a billet, hosted by a generous French Canadian family who opened their home and hearts to him, giving him the gift of experiencing a different culture and way of life. That experience left a lasting impression—he knew firsthand what it felt like to be far from home, to be welcomed by strangers who became friends, and to have someone take you under their wing and show you their world. Now, given the opportunity to reciprocate, Briggs didn't hesitate. He wanted to give back to someone else what had been given to him: genuine hospitality, authentic friendship, and the experience of being truly welcomed into a family and a culture.
What unfolded was more than just a vacation; it was a genuine cultural exchange and a masterclass in hospitality and friendship. Briggs took his friend to experience the beaches of Southwest Florida, where they enjoyed the sun and ocean together. They spent time at local soccer fields, sharing their love of the game and staying active. They trained together at the gym, pushing each other to work hard and stay fit. Briggs introduced his friend to his brother's rodeos, giving him a firsthand experience of American cowboy culture—something worlds apart from anything he had ever encountered in Liberia. The two of them even ran a 5K together on Fort Myers Beach, celebrating their athleticism and friendship side by side.
But beyond the activities and adventures, Briggs did something far more meaningful: he opened his world and welcomed his friend into his family. He showed him not just the beaches and the culture, but the warmth, generosity, and genuine connection that defines the human spirit. In doing so, Briggs demonstrated that true character isn't just about what you accomplish or how well you perform—it's about understanding empathy through your own experiences and then using that understanding to lift others up.
